Artist’s Statement

I am a Finnish sculptor from Helsinki, originally trained as a photographer at the then School of Industrial Arts. The school later became the University of Art and Design, now part of the Aalto University. There I studied plastic composition at the open university.
I form my statuettes in bee´s wax. They are then cast in bronze. This is the ancient lost wax, or cire perdue, method.
Lately I have minimized my expression further, in the form of art medals.
I have participated in the International Art Medal Federation FIDEM´s biannual world congress exhibitions since 2010, in Finland, Scotland, Bulgaria, Belgium and Canada.
Both my statuettes and my medals depict the human condition, some on a general, some on a more personal level.
The medals give me a chance to comment on topical issues with short notice.
