Bio

Juliana Hyrri is a visual artist living in Helsinki. She works mainly with drawing, painting and prose, and often, her forms of expression combine in comix; In March 2019, her first comic book Satakieli joka ei laulanut (The Nihtingale that Never Sang) was published. The book describes different, even ominous, childhoods.

Hyrri's artistic work has been supported by the Kone Foundation, the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, the Finnish Cultural Foundation, the Paulo's Foundation, Sarjakuvantekijät ry, the Finnish Illustration Association and the WSOY Literature Foundation. Her works are in the collections of Basware, Aalto University and several private parties.
