Artist’s Statement
In my artwork I approache the inner world through letting the nature bring up bodily sensations while drawing. Sometimes it feels like disappearing into the space and being part of everything around, she describes her experience. As I draw and paint the air becomes colourful substance. In my vivicious paintings the bright yet harmonious colours are tuned to echo in the space, like music. We look at the landscape as surfaces and elements, but what arises my interest is which forms and colours the immaterial part of the landscape takes on the canvas.
The silence and bright light of the Finnish summer bring me comfort and joy. These sensations are strongly present in my artwork lately.
The continuous curiosity to sense the light and colours of different natural places have brought me to the fascinating rainforests and waterfalls in Australia, Thailand, Brazil and Costa Rica. I have also lived and worked in Crete, Greece and in Florence and Sicily in Italy.
