Mia Seppälä: Hirvitalon poismaalaaminen
The first of the Disappearing Landscapes painting workshops in August was the Painting off the Hirvitalo workshop and performance. The City of Tampere Housing and Real Estate Board will make guidelines for Hirvitalo's "real estate development" in 2020 and the fate of the house is still open in this respect. At these circumstances workshop / performance organized where Hirvitalo was painted off together and in at the best, the act gives space for the new interpretations of what is to come and encourages to experience the movement between a given image (conception) and the momentary, through the physical modifying of a still image. The unique situation does not return, but the memory of the gesture remains.
Off-painting is a method where the pigment of a digital photo printed on a canvas is removed with water and a brush. The off-painting takes place in the same place where the photo was taken, i.e. in this case in the front yard of Hirvitalo. The method can be used to simulate, construct, and implement events that help identify the uniqueness of a particular place and situation.
