Artist’s Statement

"The visual thesis and the main objective of an artist is to be freed from pompousness and to cherish ambivalent black humour. The artist experiences while working the joy of inexhaustible failure. Mistakes are Paavola's core competence, she concentrates on maximizing their amount, which in turn is a guarantee for their qualitative development. This is important, for she has decided to take her lack of talent seriously."

The painter Eliisa Paavola (b. 1976) graduated from Art Institute of Kankaanpää year 2000, after which she studied in and graduated from Arts Academy at Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2004. Her art works have been presented in e.g. the art museums of Pori and Salo and the Ostrobothnian museum of Vaasa. Among others, the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art in Vaasa has her works in it's collections.
