Artist’s Statement

Elisa Kaikkonen graduated as painter from North Karelia University of Applied Sciences in 2008. Now she lives and works in Turku Finland.

Her oil paintings circle around the theme of time. She deals with the way an individual relates to the issues of time, memory, different time dimensions, and reality. The paintings are playing with different possibilities of time and space. The paintings may include intersections into the past and the several possibilities that exist in the present.

The manner in which she creates art is very emotional. Colours and the way they are laid out receive a great importance when she works. The level of portrayal varies from completely abstract to realistic, depending on the emotional status.
