Bio

Hanna Weselius has studied photography (MA, Photography, University of Art and Design Helsinki 2001), literature and communication (University of Helsinki).

For some years, Weselius has been working on plastic debris. In her art photographs and animations, she combines themes of everyday debris and romanticism.

Weselius works also in many kinds of social and communal art projects. She teaches art photography and photojournalism e.g. at the Aalto University school of art and design and writes on visual culture. Since 2009 she has been writing her Ph.D. (Doctor of Arts) thesis on portrait photography and working as a researcher at the Aalto University.

Weselius lives in Vuosaari and Vartiosaari, Helsinki.
