"I paint the surrounding landscapes and nature in all into my oil paintings. The nature is for me a mystic and beautiful place of soul and presence. The landscape is my home."

Johanna Mäkitalo was born in 1966 in Vantaa, Finland.

She has studied in Finland at Liminka Art School in 1986-88, at Lahti Institute of Fine Arts in 1988-92 and in 2011-13 she got Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Lahti Institute of Fine Arts.

Mäkitalo is a painter.

She has held several solo exhibitions. For example, in 2013 at Gallery Becker in Jyväskylä, in 2015 at Gallery Katariina in Helsinki and the latest solo exhibition was in 2016 in Jyväskylä at Gallery Höyry. In addition, she has participated in several group and juried exhibitions in Finland, i.a. in Union of Finnish Art Associations (SKjL) "Landscape" Art Exhibition in Pieksämäki in 2015. In the year 1916 she was one of the founders of the Artist Group Havina (Johanna mäkitalo, Maarit Siltamäki, Kristiina Lempiäinen Trzaska). The group has been active since that time, keeping at least one exhibition a year in Finland and departing in Berlin.

Johanna Mäkitalo`s paintings are in Jyväskylä Art Museum collection and in the Central Finland Health Care District Art collection.
