Artist’s Statement
My working history consists almost solely of painting. For the past fifteen years I have specialized in ancient egg tempera techniques where pigment is mixed with egg yolk and other substances. The painting process is time consuming and laborious which I feel has a special value amongst fast flowing images of today.
I work ideas through curiosities of every day events and unsuspected associations. Magazine cut outs, photograps and memory are equal source material. For me painting is remembering, documenting and thinking and the painting process is quite intuitive.
I found my unique way to express through painting whilst studying in London. I returned to Finland in 2005 and continued art studies in Tampere and Turku.
