Artist’s Statement
I work with painting, sculpture, and experimental photography. I am interested in everyday things on a planetary scale, such as light and water. Working at the intersections of different mediums and through expression that leans towards abstraction, I feel I can grasp even complex questions, ranging in scale from a water droplet to movements of celestial bodies.
Sensitivity towards materials as part of the content of art, instead of just a tool, is something I am constantly developing further in my artistic process. The inspiration for my work is often born from and with water. I find it fascinating to observe how waves in natural waters break the surface, adding their own layer to the mosaic of reflections and translucent views. I have incorporated this layering into my most recent works by combining different mediums, such as drawing and photography, with watercolor painting.
By working very physically with water and other materials, I get closer to the kind of physicality and emotional content that escapes words. The layeredness of processes, mediums, and thoughts is manifested in my works as an interplay of color, form, and matter, reflecting the hidden interactions forming the undercurrent of all existence. Even the smallest movements influence one another.
