Artist’s Statement

The technique in my work is hand-woven fabrics combined with recycled metal and wood. In some pieces I use only recycled metal.
I'm fascinated with contrasts and I want to reflect that in my art. The theme that carries out throughout my work is seamless cooperation of different elements. Metal and stone have power where as textiles represent softness. Also humor and solemnity create and intensifies contrasts and depth in my work.
I like to think I ”paint” with yarn made of different materials and shades when I weave the fabrics to my pieces.
The importance of color, surface and structure is highlighted in a complex storytelling where every detail is carefully considered. My strengths are technical craftsmanship, use of materials and the plasticity of my work.
My art comes from life, its sorrows and happy moments, from simply being and living.
