Artist’s Statement

I am a visual artist from Turku, I graduated from the Turku University of Applied Sciences first as a visual artist (sculptor) in spring 2015 and again in spring 2023 from the Master of Arts degree programme. In my studies, I have focused specifically on the new possibilities created by digital technologies in visual art.

I am developing ways of using 3D modelling and game programming as tools in my artistic process. I am combining my training and skills as a sculptor with a new kind of immaterial working process.

Bio

Anni Saijonkivi is a multimedia artist from Turku. Her previous studies in traditional sculpture show a focus on the materiality, form and proportions of works of art. Recently, he has been interested in the interface between game art and visual art. Saijonkivi aims to create experiential and temporal works with a spatial relationship to reality.

In his recent main line of work, Saijonkivi has worked on the theme of nature and natural, often creating a kind of artificial experience of nature, techno-nature. The works create hypnotic visions: objects, spaces and landscapes without a clear beginning, end or narrative.
