Artist’s Statement

Visual artist Miia Elisa Westerlund (b. 1968) lives and works in Porvoo. Westerlund uses painting, serigraphy, photo, textiles and moving images to create art. Westerlund's art has grown and transformed through experiments over the years, yet its main topic: man and society, is and remains. In her works, Westerlund boldly deals with what she has seen, experienced and heard. In life, and in art, visual artist Westerlund loves irony, black humor and stories. Westerlund's works have been featured in several exhibitions at home and abroad.
