Minna Suoniemi: Blow Job (Abstract Self-portrait)

BLOW JOB (ABSTRACT SELF -PORTRAIT) , 2008, HDV on dvd, 2’10”, loop

A simple act of blowing a balloon gradually developes into an abstract image, the protagonist being covered by what turns into a red circle on a black canvas. As the balloon grows, the intensity of red color weakens, and the woman becomes visible through the balloon. The abstract image reveals the active protagonist again and tension awaiting the inevitable explosion of the balloon grows. The expectations are turned around as the
woman releases the balloon of her lips and lets the air flow on her face.
