Tiina Laasonen: Äidinvaisto | Maternal Instinct
Redwing (Turdus iliacus) took over a hump of dry wood at our parking place some years ago. There it was, building a nest, hatching and parenting in the middle of cars. And endured us. In respect to the unselfish love the hump laid at our parking place over the winter. In the springtime I photographed the empty nest and took it into my studio, sculptured a redwing and made bronze casting.
The art piece includes three parts, A3 photograph (c-print) and natural sized bronze bird on the wall and the nest freely in the space. The photograph has been hanged straight to the wall under the glass, possible to frame. Hanging the bird: by peg to the wall or by using wooden background.
