Mia Seppälä: Parasiitti

Completion year: 2020
Technique: Pigment print on canvas, USB stick.
Keywords: Parasiitti, Mia Seppälä
Inserting a memory stick has triggered an impulse produced by electrically charged particles that spreads rapidly from the site of damage to adjacent plant cells and beyond and informs of danger.

The impulse has been triggered by a glutamate amino acid released from the lesion site that also carries messages in the mammalian nervous system. Parts of the plant communicate with each other and make it equip itself with an external threat.
