I became an artist because I needed to express myself. Society, people, and life are my subjects. Renewal is important in my work; you can't get stuck on one thing. The starting point for my artistic work is finding a new perspective.
Kankaanpää Art School, far away in Satakunta, I graduated from art school in 1996, a long time ago, and now it's the year 2026. In my written thesis I wrote: The Inner Me and the Outer Me, at first I shared some memories from my childhood. My interest in visual arts started when I was a little boy. I got hold of Onni Oja's : How to Draw book and filled it with my drawings, I was probably around 3-5 years old. I looked through that book many times a bit later when I was older. I don't know what happened to the book. Now it would be nice to see what I drew. At home, my dad painted pictures, which also influenced my interest in art. My dad gave me oil paints and canvas materials. I copied painters' works. I started painting with oils, the first works didn't promise anything good, but I kept painting anyway. During art school, early on, there was a divorce and I felt pretty bad at school because of it. Now it's 2026 and actually everything is fine.
