Bio

Sakari Viika is a photographer working in Helsinki, who photographs the drama of small intimate details in the daily environment. He places great trust in intuition when seeking the moment that makes even an everyday scene something special in his works. He aims at making his photographs compact, sensual and imbued with strong emotion.

Viika has also become known for participating in many cross-disciplinary projects with artists of different genres. He has extensively documented various forms of art, from the visual arts to dance and from performance to opera, and has worked for newspapers and magazines.

”…Sakari Viika photographs like he breathes…” (Georges Vercheval, View Magazine)
