Kimmo Ylönen: Tiedon vihreä lippu/The Green Flag of Knowledge
The Green Flag of Knowledge. The aim of the project is to get people to notice that every drop of water is part of the big cycle.
A simple device has a frame, a wheel that hits the lower end of a pole making it swing and on top of the pole a leaf from a local plant which acts as a green flag. Each waterwheel is unique in design and built using natural and biodegradable material from the site. Through play and simple handicraft, I inspire people of all ages to build their own wheel and pay attention to water.
Wheels have so far been built in eleven countries, Indonesia, North-Macedonia, Italy, Denmark, Chile, New-Zealand, Spain, Great Britain, Norway, Sweden and Finland.
