Ari Pelkonen is a visual artist and printmaker living and working in Helsinki. Pelkonen’s artistic work is strongly linked to the field of printed art. The printing techniques, painting, moving image and three-dimensionality that Pelkonen uses in his works are all ways to visualize the field of printed art and contribute to expanding the perception of what printed art and printmaking can be in our time and in contemporary art.
In addition to personal subjects, Pelkonen’s works are based on the concept of printmaking. Constructed images, covering and revealing, displacement and mediation are present. Cooperation with the methods and materials of printed art, as well as making things by hands, are at the center of Pelkonen’s art-making.
