Artist’s Statement
" It makes me happy to produce something, which did not exist before - and then, I can make it and it will be!"
"Breathing of life, contact with nature, sensitivity, power and beauty".
I was born in the South Ostrobothnia in Finland, and my childhood nature experiences - rivers, forests, fields and flowering roadsides - have affected my paintings. After art studies in Helsinki I lived in Lappland for 13 years, with the pursuit of sensing and feeling the nature through oil painting, inspired by both realism and impressionism.
Nowadays I am enchanted by the simultaneous lightness and strength of watercolor painting - how the adventure with water as a medium takes me from the observation of details to the fortuitous chances that inspire new experiments.
My exhibition activities have continued nationwide and internationally: I have been the leader of the IWS (International Watercolor Society) Finnish department, and the director of the Watercolor Nordic’s painting website.
I have participated in international exhibitions of art museums and galleries in the Nordic countries and Europe, as well as in China, India, Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Canada, Mexiko, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Nepal.
My work is included to several collections both in Finland and abroad, in art museums, hotels, hospitals, banks and numerous municipalities and cities.
