I am a visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland, with a YAMK degree in Fine Arts and Design. I have been working professionally as an artist for around ten years. Painting has been the foundation of my practice, but in recent years my work has increasingly expanded into spatial and multi-material forms of expression.
My work often begins with observations, memories and fleeting sensations. I am interested in what lies beneath the visible surface and in the layers that exist between things. Alongside painting, I work with drawing, collage, objects and found materials, as well as creating spatial works and installations.
I am interested in transformation and in the relationship between a work and its surroundings. For me, a work does not necessarily have to remain fixed or exist in a predetermined form. It can continue to evolve by changing, moving into a new context or becoming part of something else. An old painting, drawing, object or found material can take on a new form and meaning when brought into relation with other materials and elements.
My practice is grounded in experimentation, observation and discovery. A work often begins without a clearly defined plan. It may emerge from a line, a material, an object or a spontaneous drawing made on scrap paper. I follow the dialogue between my hand and the materials, allowing the work to reveal its direction through the process itself.
In recent years, I have become increasingly interested in space: how a work or an object occupies a space, how space influences the work, and how art can shape our experience of a place. I see my current practice as a continuation of my earlier work rather than a departure from it. Painting remains an important foundation, while new possibilities have opened up for thinking about the work through material, objects and space.
