Artist’s Statement
The first part of my career as an artist, I was working with digital art, mainly video, but after the year 2013 I have focused on painting and sculpture. I'm fascinated by transcendental concepts and mysticism. The images contain archetypal shapes and energies. I combine universal structures and symbols in reflections concerning the visible and invisible world.
My work method is based on empathy, sensation and intuition. The underlying theme in my art is the sublime, holy, and mysterious aspect of our Being. I think my art relates to a part of the symbolist and surrealist tradition, and I'm fascinated by the medieval visual narrative. I study many different religious traditions; from Christian mystisicm to Sufi poetry and the view of the world by indigenous people. I find a similar visual language in the works of Hildegaard of Bingen, or in the Red Book of C G Jung. René Magritte has always been important.
