Artist's Statement

I mainly work on topics arising from the changing interaction between man and the environment. I am interested, on the one hand, in the similarity of man and nature, and on the other hand in the dominant role of man over the rest of nature. My artworks are installations, photographs, sculptures and environmental art.

Bio

The visual artist Kaija Kiuru (born 1959 in Sodankylä, Finnish Lapland) has studied sculpture in The Institute of Fine Arts in Lahti 1987–1991. She also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Culture and Arts and the degree of Master of Arts (Art History).

The relationship with nature in her childhood and youth together with studies of environmental protection and education in the 1990’s created the ground on which Kiuru´s art is based even today.

Solo exhibitions in Finland, Norway, Scotland and Czech Republic.
Group exhibitions in Finland, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Russia, Germany, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, France, Albania, Turkey, Poland and Italy.
