Artist’s Statement

Artistry is something I feel is innate in myself.

Empathy, compassion, inclusion and tolerance of difficult topics are central to my work.

I work mainly in series. My main series from recent years are the Maternity series, Animal omens series and Viena-Karelia series. I feel that painting in series provides an opportunity to develop and deepen the subject. For example, painting the Maternity series took a year and I started developing the themes several years earlier.

The starting points for my work come from a deep focus on the topics. The study also deepens through my degree in the field of cultural heritage and the work done in the field, e.g. in museums and as a field archaeologist. Of course, my own life experience is also reflected in my works.

My main topics are humans, nature, cultural heritage and old Finnish worldview.
