Bio

I started my artistic work in the first decade of 2000’s in the region of Southwest Finland. At the time, I was making oil paintings which’s canvases had been taped directly to the wall. During this time, a stack of expressive gouache paintings in A3 format were also completed, the original pieces of which, like the oil paintings, have now been lost.
In 2010 I began my art studies at Orivesi Art College and during this time I painted through naturalism, national romance, expressionism, surrealism, mixed media and futurism, ending in a fully abstract expression. I started my studies in Lahti University of Applied Sciences the following year. During my studies, I also became acquainted with video art and practiced this form of expression for about a year and a half. I spent my school holidays backpacking in art museums abroad.
I continued at Orivesi Art College in the form of summer courses and completed my first book of poetry around 2013. I graduated from the Art Institute majoring in painting.
After graduation in 2015, I went on an ex tempore road trip with a colleague through Europe to Marocco. I painted in Cologne, France and Spain. After the trip I worked from Helsinki and participated in exhibitions abroad, and published my second book of poetry in 2016. The interest in traveling has subsided and I focus on working on paintings locally or in residencies in Finland.
I was allowed to work as an art theorist by in the spring of 2021. I hope to publish more than just my Ma research in the next few years.
I firmly believe in the power of imagination even when the overall feeling of the world feels awkward or gloomy. Through my art, I want to bring out deep philosophical ideas but also lighter, enjoyable themes, depending on the viewer’s possible starting perspectives towards art. Art is a mirror that shows our innermost being and brings us pleasure with all its aesthetic elements, thoughts, motives and problems. Let’s enjoy the diversity that the industry brings to the ocean of communication.
