Artist’s Statement
Tiina Herttua (born in Finland) is a Finnish visual artist holding a B.F.A degree from Lahti Institute of Fine Arts. She did part of her studies at Australian National University. She has been living and working in Finland, Italy and Australia. Currently her studio is near Sipoonkorpi National Park in Finland.
She has exhibited at several solo and group shows in Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Russia, Australia, Japan, Austria, Italy and Hungary. In her artistic work recycled materials and re-used objects have important role, and also she uses painting, paper clay, woodcut, drawing and photography in her work. Herttua investigates the relationship between human and nature. She also conceptually covers subjects like religion, socio-philosophical issues and environmental changes.
Beside working as a visual artist, she organizes community art workshops.
