Artist’s Statement
I am a visual artist from Turku and I mainly work with installations, sculpture and video, often with miniature landscapes, dreams, water and plants. In my works, I try to embody different perceptions of reality and human's relationship with nature, exploring different utopias or dystopias. I have worked in several residencies in the Finland Archipelago and my work has been presented in Finland and abroad in various exhibitions, environments, festivals, screenings and art museums.
Haapala has been awarded (in the year 2018) Art Foundation Merita’s Young Promising Artist grant. Haapala graduated from the Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts with a Master of Fine Arts in 2017, and as a visual artist (AMK) from the Turku Academy of Fine Arts in 2015.
