Bio

Suvi Härkönen is an installation artist living and working in Finland. Her large-scale installations are shaped by light and sound as well as strong sculptural elements. Härkönen's works form in the tension between the built structure, human body and empty space. They are, by their nature, more minimalistically oriented and meditative rather than excessively stimulating.

Her installations have been exhibited since 2011 in both solo and group shows. Recent exhibitions include solo shows Dreams at the End of the Night in Porvoo Art Hall (2018) and Let Them in Photographic Gallery Hippolyte in Helsinki (2017) and a group show at Gallery Sculptor in Helsinki (2017).

Suvi Härkönen has also collaborated with other artists from both fine and applied arts. Her most recent collaboration (2017) was a dance performance choreographed into her installation Robots Don't Dream. In 2015 she also designed a sculptural pavilion for an exhibition organized by a curatorial collective Porin Kulttuurisäätö.

Suvi Härkönen has a BA in Fine Arts (Sculpture) from Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts and an MA in Visual Culture from Aalto University of Arts, and is a member of The Association of Finnish Sculptors.
