Bio

Selma Haro (b.1989 in Porvoo) is a Turku based contemporary artist with a BA degree in fine arts in Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2016. Haro works mostly with painting and installation but also writes prose and collects stones with a passion. In recent years she has developed an interest in mural painting and her murals can be found in Porvoo, Lappeenranta and Savonlinna.

Intuition is Haro’s most important tool, as her work is deeply personal and emotional. Water, foliage, paths and flowers are strongly presented in Haro’s works, as delves into themes such as mortality, holiness and change.

Haro has exhibited works in Finland and abroad, including those at Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova in Turku (2016), B-galleria in Turku (2018), Petrikirche in St. Petersburg (2018) Metropol Art Gallery in Tallinn (2015), Stockfors Art Fair in Pyhtää (2015) and Muu Kaapeli in Helsinki (2013). Her works can be seen next at Lappeenranta Art Museum in January 2019 and she will be painting a mural in Pieksämäki in the summer of 2018. Haro has works in many private collections and is a member of the Finnish Painters Union. Haro also is a member at Kuvasto and a secretary for Artist Association Tila Ry.
