Artist’s Statement

My paintings are condensed situations – just like stage settings. In them, time and place intertwine, hiding and revealing at the same time. When I paint, I aim for a suggestive expression and only aim for the essential. The paint I deal with in my work becomes the subject itself. The erotic charge radiates from the skin in glowing colors. The possibility of decadence shows itself in body positions, intermittent brushstrokes, and feelings of emptiness, transience, and joy.

Making and presenting art is a game for me, which is about mirroring and communicating with myself and the viewer. Because happiness always springs from a connection with other people.
