Artist’s Statement

I´m a multidisciplinary visual artist (MA) whose work is fueled by the consideration of ecological issues, and the intention of generating dialogic paths with the public innately merging into my works. In my current works, I explore the use of components from environmental art, bioart, alternative photography techniques, media arts, and costume.

Bio

Among others, my works have been presented in Art Ii Biennial 2020 - The Knowledge of the Earth, in Sweden in Hylte Municipality, and land art biennial (X)sites 2023 organized by Konstnärcentrum Väst. In 2023 I worked in the Saari residence awarded by the Kone Foundation. In the fall of 2024, I will work in the Nart -residency in Estonia awarded by The Finnish Cultural Foundation. My work has also been supported with a residency in 2021 by the British interactive arts studio Invisible Flock with the supporting organisation The Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland. I was selected in 2021 as a Finnish STEAM residency artist established by the Finnish Institute in the UK and Ireland, the City of Edinburgh, and the City of Oulu.

My environmentally-themed solo exhibition Points of Coherence was on display 2023 in Galleria Huuto in Helsinki and Conversations with Water video works are currently exhibited in the international Shifting Ground -exhibition in Rovaniemi Art Museum.

Kettunen is a member of Artists´ Association MUU, a national interdisciplinary art organisation, Cross-art Collective Piste, and Artists´ Association of Lapland.
