Artist’s Statement
In my works, I combine phrases, sayings, customs, beliefs and studies about nature that have remained detached in my mind. I mix these subjects with portrait-like depictions of people, sometimes intuitively, sometimes intentionally in relation to the person being painted. I want to play freely with ideas, colors and subjects and at the same time tell about things that tickle my heart. I am fascinated by the stagnant atmosphere of old animal paintings and illustrations and the symbolic values created for animals in fables and stories.
