Artist’s Statement

Pekka Hokkanen (b.1979) is a finnish printmaker. He is working with mezzotint, copper engraving, dry point, woodcut and several drawing techniques. His works are usually enigmatic and finished. Also, his methods and materials are vegan-friendly.

"My working process start two different ways. The first is to built whole artwork as a puzzle. Another way is just work with idea, which is already in my mind. To me, the most important things in my working process are good idea and finished result."

Pekka Hokkanen is a member of The Association of Finnish Printmakers, Finnish Woodcut Artist Association and Lahti Graphic Artist Association. His works are included in several public and private art collections. Hokkanen has particpated in many international exhibitions in Finland and abroad. He has had private exhibitions in Finland and Bulgaria. He is internationally awarded printmaker.
