Artist’s Statement

Time
I have been always interested in the experience of time, and also historical movie techniques. I am more interested in visual stammering than in the faddish international clean documentary style. Also my graphic artworks and photos have been like philosophical movies. I try to capture the feeling of the passing of time. I usually combine modern photo ideas with traditional techniques. I connect my art pieces in different ways, so together they can make a short story or create a sense of movement. I would like to make slow motion movies which are backslashes for the present-day hectic life style. I love the idea that you can lapse into your own thoughts freely in front of a video screen.

Embodiment
I am working with the same subjects and themes in my photos and videos, which I also sculpt, paint and print. I think that painting and drawing are my great sources of creativity. I believe that there is a mutual connection between the head and the hand; you can describe you thoughts by pencil but you can also understand something new by drawing. This kind physical activity represents tacit knowledge – knowledge without words.

Unconscious
I have used a lot the image of the horse in my art works.
I want to diversify the meaning of the horse - for me it's not only a beautiful animal. The character of the horse is like a transition or a condensation of being, describing feelings and situations in the real life. My art wants to give the form to the issues which I can’t name.

Research
I have a great interest in using drawing as a tool in the communal art projects. I have seen how drawing together can give something important for long term patients or refugees. Because the participant is not only a passive observer but also takes part into the embodiment emotionally. These moments can increase the meaning of existence.

Also my artistic research is dealing with these subjects and studying the appearance of the unconscious in artistic process.
