Artist’s Statement

My artistic work is rooted in site-specific and community-based processes. I often use digital and analog images and sound in my works, either as independent pieces or as part of collages and installations. My expression is essayistic and draws inspiration from my immediate surroundings. My artistic practice is diverse, encompassing a wide range of exhibitions, various types of art projects, and multidisciplinary activities alongside my artistic work.

Bio

Tuomo Kangasmaa

1965, Kemi

Tuomo Kangasmaa’s works are situated at the intersection of video art, installation, and spatial practice. His artistic production explores the experiential dimensions of landscape and space. Kangasmaa graduated from the Lahti Institute of Design and Fine Arts in 2012 and from the Dance Department of the Arnhem Academy of Art in the Netherlands in 1992. He lives in Oulu, and his works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions as well as at numerous film and media art festivals in Finland and internationally, including in Brazil, the United Kingdom, Austria, Korea, Lithuania, Poland, France, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, and the United States.
