Bekim Hasaj: ´Shells´

Completion year: 2023
Size: 90cm(b)x110cm(h)
The series of different metal sheets entitled ´´shells´´ represent the landscape through its textures, shapes, cavities, traces, and stories. Shaped during a process of hammering the metal on top of the hosting object, the ´shell´ is what remains after it, after a close-up encounter with a site-specific environmental object. The representation of a rock surface on a metal sheet becomes the ´shell´ immediately after it leaves the rock. Its Subjectivity takes over. The latest series is part of the ´Scanning Landscape´ project and artistic research which evolves around the understanding, and exploring of the genre of landscape in the context of the Ostrobothnian environment.
