This is an installation, and shown here the size is 320 cm x 124 cm. This was first shown in a group exhibition called "Wider Horizon" at the Oulu City Art Museum. It was later bought as a Public Work for the University of Jyväskylä, and is hung in two separate sections in their "Ruusupuisto" building. In the northern village of Inari, there is a large lake called "Ukkonjärvi" (The Old Man's Lake). In early Spring, when the sun is out for some hours each day, the surface of the frozen lake thaws, and then at night it re-freezes. There is a pattern of shiny surface, matt surface, snow, and melted water. I became very interested in this, and painted this installation. I used recycled glass from old computers. This is why it is both the lake and the information highway.
