Sirpa Jokinen: Äänisimpukka, 2012
seashell, electronics, open source material from freesound.org, archive.org, libravox.org, freesfx.co.uk and self-made recordings.
The soundshell plays sounds referring to the lighting of its surroundings which is measured by photoresistor built inside.
Bright light, diminishing light, darkness and growing light are expressed in poetry recitals and songs, playing the actual sound of the light source (for example the sound of the fluorescent light tube), as references made to the hours of the day in literature and playing the effect of a certain lighting situation (for example cry in the darkness).
