Lotta-Pia Kallio: Building a Sacred tree
Building a Sacred Tree is 7min 14 seconds long video where the laborers (Salo firemen) assemble a large tree. Tree represents in many cultures the link between the worlds. These trees were worshiped and they were offerings. They listened to the prayers, improved, helped and determined the fate. The Sacred Tree acts as a mediator of humans and gods, as well as between the living and the dead. Centuries later, on this day, we still have trees, which we respect, protect and defend at all costs.
