Salla Myllylä: Lähtö / Departure 2013

site specific video installation, loop 11 min
rear projection on a screen

The work depicts the departure of a large passenger ship filmed through four windows of an old harbor warehouse. The ship moves first very slowly. Its’ movement is difficult to detect. Seagulls fly along its side when it leaves. The windows of the space were covered, but the video showed what one might see out of them. The sounds from the real harbor became part of the installation.
