The painting is part of a series Roihupelto-Pompeji. The series consists of 50 paintings made with oil, tempera and putrido technique on linen.

My studio was located in Roihupelto industrial area in Helsinki 2006-2021.

As the first impression of the area I understood how similar the play of light and shadow were there when compared to that of the antique city of Pompeii in Italy. Pompeii has been an extremely important place to nourish my artistic work since 2004. Now these two places come together in the series Roihupelto-Pompeii.

I work with traditional techniques and materials avoiding plastic to reach the fresco-like effect.
