Satu Laurel: Scenery 5.6. (If You Think There Are No Miracles, Make Them)

Completion year: 2025
Size: 70x50
Private collection

This painting continues the traditions of the romantic landscape painting, adding a abstract level of contemporary art to it.

The painting is painted on smooth, Italian linen with first-class acrylic paints. The stretchers in the back are made of glued wood, and the wedges can be used to gently tighten the fabric if it loosens over time. The surface is protected from light and dirt with a varnish and the work can be hung with a metal wire, which is behind the canvas.

This painting is a part of the new series of paintings I started to paint in the spring 2024. In these paintings, I have dealt with the themes of the invisible and the visible and have considered the ideas of encountering ideal and material worlds by painting practice, inspired by Merleau-Ponty's essays.
