A central theme in my art is the investigation of the material world. My focus is on the history, identity and future of substances, and on the way their symbolic meaning and people’s relationship to them has changed in different eras. I often juxtapose contrasting substances perceived as representing different categories, such as hi-tech materials with substances that are organic. Ultimately, this dualism may be understood as anti-dualistic. Through it, the dichotomy between nature and culture becomes questionable. In my view, we are inseparable parts of nature. In us, the world tells of itself.
