Artist’s Statement
I work multidisciplinary with different techniques, and my artistic production is often based on the research of the topic I deal with.
My visual language is abstract, although sometimes recognizable elements can be found in the works. My style is expressive, where colors play a big role. Subjects can be the relationship between nature and human and each other, as well as socio-philosophical issues.
I usually work serially. Lately, I have focused on painting, where I use both oil and acrylic colors and also dry pigments. In the last few years, I have worked for part of the year in Sicily, where I paint outdoors. I like the benefits it brings, like the natural light, but also the challenge to the painting process.
I have graduated from the Lahti Art Institute and the Australian National University School of Art. I work as a full-time professional visual artist and have employed myself in the visual field for over 30 years.
In addition to Finland and European countries, my works have been exhibited in Japan, USA, Russia and Australia, and my paintings have been acquired in several private and public collections, e.g. to the collections of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland.
In addition, I have also worked as a community artist. The largest public work is in the wall of Karatalo in Espoo, parts of which were realized in community art workshops.
