Kansanen, Laura | Artist Register – Artists’ Association of Finland

Bio

I am a painter and visual artist based in Helsinki, Finland. I graduated as a painter from the Free Art School and later earned a degree in Fine Arts from the Institute of Fine Arts at Lahti University of Applied Sciences. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Culture and Arts (Visual Arts) at the Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences.

Alongside my artistic practice, I have worked as an educator at institutions including the University of Art and Design Helsinki and later at Aalto University. I currently work at the Helsinki Artists’ Association as a Project Coordinator and Art Lending Service Assistant.

In my artistic practice, I combine a variety of materials and methods. My work brings together photography-based processes, printmaking, and painting. Each piece develops its own narrative, revealing unexpected details and atmospheres along the way.

My work is inspired by the world around me, encounters with people, and personal experiences. Each artwork is like a reflection of a moment, an emotion, or a memory that may also find its way into someone else's recollections.

I hope my work sparks curiosity and invites viewers to discover their own memories, associations, and lived moments within it.
