Bio

Mari Hokkanen is a photo artist based in Helsinki, Finland. Her self-portraits are narrative, enacted episodes, mostly set in colorful installations, built from recycled materials. Her surrealistic scenes deal with serious issues but often there is an element of wit and humour to her work; sometimes dark or deadpan, other times playful and childlike.
