Bio
During my existence on planet earth, which is 37 years from now, I have studied fine art for over 10 years.
Painting has always been my main medium, but back in the time of the film cameras I've completed a basic degree of photography and have experienced with video too. By trial and error, I have gained some basic knowledge in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
I studied painting in the Turku Art academy (grad. 2006) from where I went to exchange in Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow for one year. I also participated summer studies in Serbia (course of performance art).
From 2008 on I have been teaching painting part-time in the Worker's institute of Helsinki. When I was accepted to continue my studies in the Estonian Academy of Art I had to quit my job in 2011. I finished my MA degree (Master of Art in art) in 2013 and returned to Helsinki. After two years, in 2015, I got back to work as a teacher in the Worker's institute of Helsinki and also Omnia in Espoo (from 2016) and Institute of Adult education in Helsinki (from 2017), where I was giving classes i.a. to illiterate immigrants.
In my work history there are also a few projects of designing decorations in jazz-concerts. The interest in stage-design was already present in my early teenage years, when I did an internship in a local theatre. During my studies I have illustrated one book and made lay outs for posters, book covers and a magazine.
I would like to make more paintings for book or record covers and would take serious interest in possible future illustration projects. There are samples of aforementioned projects in my
old website.
Traditional oil painting is my main medium. I mainly work among figurative and surrealistic themes. I also paint a lot of portraits. From the future I expect, that I had more time to concentrate on my own artistic work. During my studies in Estonia I took part in some relevant exhibitions. My final exhibition "Encounters of Visual art and Music" was shown in Draakoni Gallery and the Estonian museum of architecture (2013). I also took apart in experimental performative concert "Postinstrumentum" and the "Seanahk"-happening in Haapsalu, as well as exhibition of erotic art in Rakvere Art Hall in 2011. In Finland I have presented my works i.a. in Hirvitalo, Tampere (solo exhibition "Cause, effect" 2014), Gallery Huuto ("Estomania", 2013), and Gallery Maa-Tila, Helsinki (2007, 2009).
Until this day I mainly presented my works in galleries of cafes, which offer the space out of cost. Therefore I willingly take apart in common exhibitions and other projects and interdisciplinary actions. I make also made-to-order paintings, e.g. portraits. See more on my website!
