Artist’s Statement

I am a visual artist living and working in Sotkamo, Finland. I work with a variety of materials along with clay. Also recycled and unconventional materials are often used in my works. Everything is allowed and everything must be experienced with.

Two years ago I discovered a completely new way of making pictures. Clay monoprinting is a technique developed by American ceramist and graphic artist Mitch Lyons.

3D pen as a tool is part of my skills. When you’re drawing with a 3D-pen, you’re kind of drawing in the air. That’s what makes it so fascinating.

Watercolor painting is one of my techniques. In the series of “Fuck Your Beauty Standards” (2018) the faces of different people illuminate the viewer with little regard for the beauty of the traditional portrait.

I want to take a stand on humanistic and current issues like violence against women, forgetting about the elderly and describing the sorrows caused by excessive use of alcohol in their environment are topics that she has dealt with in her works. Finnish self-destructive national character has also been involved in the topics of her works.

I have participated in many juried and curated exhibitions and held dozens of exhibitions throughout the Finland from far end of the 1990s.
