The painting is part of a series Roihupelto-Pompeji, that I started to work on in 2017. The series consists of about 50 paintings made with oil, tempera and putrido technique on canvas. My studio is located in Roihupelto industrial area in Helsinki since 2006. The area has become important for me during these years. As the first impression of the area I understood how similar the play of light and shadow were there when compared to that of the antique city of Pompeii in Italy. Pompeii has been an extremely important place to nourish my artistic work for more than 15 years. Now these two places come together in the series Roihupelto-Pompeii. I work with traditional techniques and materials avoiding plastic to reach the fresco-like effect.
